Dstv R799 explorer deal is a lie.
In December 2014 I received a call from Dstv, trying to sell me the Explorer deal where you pay R799 a month over 24 months and get an explorer decoder, premium package, a free installation voucher worth R1500, and fixed subscription fee for 24 months. I agreed. The only thing I had to organize was to get the explorer installed by their partner - OnAir Tv. The installation people came from OnAir Tv and installed the decoder, took the voucher, made me sign a few documents (which I thought was just to confirm that they did install it), and left. When my debit orders came off, Dstv debited not R799 but the usual premium package amount, and out of nowhere, I get a debit order from OnAir Tv for R149 for the cost of the explorer decoder!!! The document I signed was in fact a legal agreement that said I have to pay R149 a month for 24 months. Dstv was now out of the picture. I ended-up paying more than just R799 a month and Dstv has no record of the contract agreement made over the telephone! Both Dstv and OnAir Tv are working together on this and tricking and lying to the consumers in order to make more turnover. Please beware of Dstv and OnAir Tv's ********* business practices.
