DStv Online
<p>I was recently told by a DStv helpline operator that in order to stream from their website you're required a download speed of 2Mbps which is fine, but then also an upload speed of 3.5Mbps which just doesn't make sense considering most internet service providers always give preference to downloading speed since this is normally more useful. I just want to know what data does my computer have to upload to the DStv website when I just want to watch a video? Surely most of the data should be downloading the video I'm trying to stream?</p> <p>What's also been annoying is that this wouldn't be as big of an issue if DStv just allowed to still be able to download episodes onto your PC. They previously had a system in which this was possible but decided to s**** it for a reason which I'm still not sure about.</p> <p>I just wish a company as big as DStv could actually live up to it's reputation and keep up with the times so they could actually compete with other online streaming or downloading services.</p>

You can use DStv Now on any broadband Internet connection, including ADSL, 3G/HSDPA, 4G/LTE or Wi-Fi. A minimum connection speed of 2Mbps is required, but for the best experience, we recommend a 4Mbps line or faster.
It is highly recommended that you use DStv Now in conjunction with an uncapped Internet account to avoid unexpected data bills. Please fami****ise yourself with the data costs charged by your Internet Service Provider (ISP), as DStv cannot be held responsible for high data bills received from your ISP.”
With regards to the download option; “the download option (icon) has been removed from the DStv Now website. As technology evolves, the most prominent web browsers have made the decision to stop supporting Flash video plugins. In line with this global trend, we've made some changes to our DStv Now online service.
We have decided to discontinue the use of the DStv desktop player because it is a flash-based service. The download option is still available on the DStv Now app, which you can get from the Play store or Apple App Store for both smartphones and tablets.”
