DSTV OFFICES DURBAN
<p>Once again I have needed to take my Explora in to DSTV. I Googled them and found that their website still gives 2 operational facilities. One in the workshop in Durban Crime Central and the other in the elite far northern extremities of our city where the rich and famous dwell, Umhlanga.</p> <p>I then phoned ********** and spoke to a very nice person who told me I could take the unit to either the Workshop or Umhlanga, both long irksome and harrowing trips. So I got into my vehicle and drove to the Workshop, found parking, and fought my way past carguards and tsosties and up to where DSTV/Multichoice used to be to find they are no longer there. I then asked a shopkeeper who told me that they had moved to the corner of Smith and Gardner. Of course Smith St and Gardner dont'exisst any more. I then asked the carguard who told me the same thing. I then went on to Google maps and found they put the facility on Samora Machel Avenue (I think ex Aliwal) between Anton Lembede (Ex Smith) and Dr Pixley Kaseme St (formerley West St). Google maps then proceeded to take me to Syndey road, back along Margaret Mncadi (Formerley Victoria) to Samora Machel and then up to Dr Pixley Kaseme to find that there is no Multichoice office or shop there.</p> <p>So I then drove the 25 kilometers to Umhlanga. When I asked the lady who served me why there were no offices in Pinetown or Westville I was told it was because they couldn't find premises. WHAT?? I know 4 commercial estate agents who can find premisies tomorrow. </p> <p>I think it is ridiculous that the whole of Durban has to go to the Northern extremity of the city to get service from DSTV/Multichoice. Even to have to go into the city centre is a nightmare.</p> <p>Even all the staff at DSTV must find it a huge trial to get to and from work every day. No one who is not extremely wealthy can afford to actually live in Umhlanga.</p> <p>Please Multichoice, think of your clients before we all switch to downloading our entertainment.</p>

Please accept our sincere apologies for the delayed response and inconvenience caused.
It is true that “Google” still picks up the old address of the now closed down agency; this is due to Google keeping historical information which we do not have access to remove. We have updated this to our IT experts to come up with a solution to correct.
The Workshop Agency has since closed down, and the official DStv website depicts this, where we have only published the two Service Centres namely Umhlanga and Anton Lambede Durban Central.
We will look into the feasibility of having an Agent presence in the area that you have mentioned, however in the meanwhile we are able to provide support through our accredited installers for technical and various pay-points i.e. Pep, PnP, Shop-rite checkers, flash; and self-help.
With that being said the matter has been referred to the relevant department for consideration. Please be assured of our best service and intentions at all times.

Thank you for your response. I just don't think that Pick n Pay would not be able to offer service on my decoder. if you look at Durban, it just makes sense to put a service centre in Westville (where your original one used to be) or Pinetown. Even Hillcrest. What is the fascination with Umhlanga?
If I call one of your accredited installers they are not going to do a call out without a nice charge. Already I'm paying R 1 000 a monthy (very nearly) and expect to have some customer service available at a place that is more convenient than a 4 hour drive (both ways on a good day)
