DSTv (Multichoice), the Height of Frustration
DSTv (Multichoice) is decidedly the most infuriating enterprise that I deal with on a regular basis.
Judging by the number of negative reviews here, I am not the only one.
Admittedly, it is my choice. I could choose not to deal with them. But until I find an alternative ...
Each time, there is an issue.
Today it is with trying to activate my holiday home decoder.
No joy from their WhatsApp interface, just the following message: “Something has gone wrong while trying to check the decoders on your account and help you manage your holiday home viewing. Would you like me to try again?" I reply “yes” and get the message repeatedly.
Then I tried to activate the decoder on their web site. Guess what? Yeah, no joy either.
As for their billing!
Thank goodness that I do not have a debit order with them.
But that is the subject for another post.

I got the following reply: "We are currently experiencing technical difficulties on our side, we have escalated the query to the relevant team to further assist. Apologies for the delay, we will revert back with feedback ~NN"

On the 28th of September, I paid for my main DSTv Multichoice service (DSTv Multichoice services are paid in advance).
On the 29th of September, I requested that my Holiday Home decoder be activated for 15 days (the saga that led to my original post here).
Following my hellopeter post, I was contacted by Amanda and was informed that my holiday home decoder has been activated but I need to make an immediate payment of R 293.54.
Today, Amada told me something that I was not aware of.
If I did not make the R 293.54 payment, DSTv Multichoice, would deactivate BOTH DECODERS. The main service which I HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR as well as the holiday home decoder.
If I had not requested the activation of my holiday home decoder, my main service would continue until the next pay date which is the 28th of October 2020.
It makes perfect sense for DSTv Multichoice to deactivate a service that they have not been paid for, but to deactivate a service which they have been paid for?
Maybe it is just to me that this makes no sense.
