I am totally disgusted with DSTV. On the 4th of February 2023 I subscribed to the streaming service for R699, which I paid via online purchase on the DSTV website, where I had to approve the online purchase via my Nedbank Banking app.
Yesterday on the 3rd of March 2023 I went on the mydstv app to deactivate my service as I did not want to renew my service for March. To my surprise when I went on the mydstv app there was 2 services showing active! When I only requested and paid for one streaming service on the 4th of February 2023 as mentioned above. I then continued to deactivate my services, still confused as to why there is 2 services active as I only paid for one.
I also made sure that there is no active debit order and that in order for my service to continue I would have to make a manual payment as I did not approve a Debit Order or sign up for a automatic renewal.
To my surprise today on the 4th of March 2023 an amount of R1398 was deducted from my Nedbank account as an online purchase, when I specifically cancelled my subscription on 03/03/2023 and never approved a renewal of my service. According to dstv’s app and website there is multiple ways of paying and nowhere does it mention that a subscription will be automatically renewed. And just remember that I did cancel the subscription on 03/03/2023 and my payment method was set as cash and not debit order or automatic renewal.
When I spoke to an agent all she could say is that she would escalate this issue, and that she could see that there was 2 active services on my profile and thus there was an outstanding amount of R699 for February and then the new subscription for March of R699, thus the amount equals R1398.
I am very upset with the fact that Dstv was able to take money from my account as an online purchase when I never approved the transaction and cancelled my active subscription on 03/03/2023, the second active subscription must have been a duplicate transaction from your side as I paid my one streaming service for the month of February when I activated the service.
I would like to request that my funds be paid back to my account within the next 48 hours or I will continue with the process of laying a complaint at the ombudsman as well as with the broadcasting complaints commission of South Africa for poor client service as well as ********** transactions being processed on my account by Multichoice DSTV.
my reference number for this incident is ***
This level of service and behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
Best regards,
