On 29th March 2018 I visited a DSTV outlet (Greenstone) with my faulty de-coded, provided the model number, smart card number and account number. The de-coded is constantly losing audio for a few seconds multiple times during programmes viewed and that the fault screen constantly appears requesting a restart in order to communicate with programmes. Thabiso at counter 3 of the DSTV outlet afforded great service and conducted herself with professionalism, tested the unit identifying that it should be REPLACED. However, the only replacement model is the downgraded, less capable model HD5 that would require re-cabling to the upstairs TV in order to employ 2 x TV sets as I have been doing for years. This also requires a modulator in order to work efficiently INCREASING THE COSTS I would incur in order to be placed in the exact position I have employed within the house at my expense under the guidance of DSTV in order to operate 2 x TV units off the one Model 1131 unit. I am very annoyed at this ************ removal of the capability being advised that if I upgrade to a DSTV Explorer or spend more money and inconvenience with the modulator and cable installations so that I can still enjoy 2 x TV units as before. I expect, as a fully paid up, insured member and client of DSTV and Multichoice since its inception that I be afforded a remedy that returns me to the position I was enjoying of 2 x TV sets to watch the viewing of our choice

Best regards,
Dear Irene,
It is with regret that we learn of your unpleasant experience in dealing with MultiChoice and the level of service you experienced in this regard.
Kindly be advised that Multichoice has never supported the installation setup you were using previously; this was either done for you or an installer
The 1131 decoder you were using was a single view decoder, the decoder it was replaced with is an upgrade as the Decoder is HD capable, Dolby Digital 5.1 Capable and comes with a brand new user interface (all the screens and menus you use when watching TV). It also has great search features (making it easy for you to find something to watch), plus an eight-day TV Guide and the ability to control what your kids can watch with Parental Control.
Should you wish to have the ability to View DStv services on 2 TV’s we recommend Xtraview.
XtraView is a cost effective and flexible solution that allows you to enjoy different DStv programmes in two different rooms all at the same time. Your XtraView subscription mirrors your chosen subscription package* at the cost of a single subscription, along with a DStv access fee of R90 per month.
XtraView provides you with great benefits:
· Watch different DStv channels in different rooms at the same time (kids can watch cartoons in the bedroom while Dad watches football in the lounge)
· Fewer arguments about who controls the remote
· Flexible viewing for the whole family
· Get all the same great channels you enjoy in a second environment for just R70 extra a month
The initial set-up cost includes the cost of the decoders (unless you already have one or both) and a fully XtraView compliant installation.
Basically, two decoders are linked to work under a single subscription. Each decoder is independently connected to the satellite dish and each decoder has a smartcard.
in the XtraView installation, one decoder is designated as the "primary" decoder and the other one is designated as the "secondary".
The decoders are linked by a cable that allows communication between them and the primary decoder sends a "heartbeat" to the secondary decoder via this cable.
If the cable is removed or the "heartbeat" lost, the secondary decoder will lose video & audio until the cable is replaced or the "heartbeat" resumed.
There is no impact to the primary decoder if the cable is disconnected.
You don’t need to get an Explora to enjoy Xtraview, you can purchase a similar decoder for R399.00 without installation and link it to your current decoder.
You would need to contact a DStv accredited installer in order to assist with your Xtraview setup.
Feel free to contact us should you require any further assistance.
Kind regards
