DSTV Multichoice chaos/misrepresentation.
Have a DSTV Explorer with an additional decoder for multiview. Secondary decoder was not progressing past the 3==3 mode and continued attempting to reboot itself. Took decoder to DSTV Multichoise office N1 City C.T. at approx. 10-30, consultant Bonny ( very polite) initially suggested that it was a signal problem however after getting an opinion from a colleague who did not see the decoder not attempted to reset any settings decided that the decoder was faulty, out of warantee, and needed to be replaced. I was given various options from Decoder model 1,2..and 3 amongst others , together with the need for a separate diplexer ( which they do not keep stock of ) and an installation fee, the decoder which looked like that ( to a box which she pointed to), and an investment ranging from R600 to R1200! A similar to my decoder was neither available or not in stock? She thereafter settled on selling me a plug and play solution for R599 which did not need installation, a 'diplexer?' etc. for which I paid. This took approx 25/30 min and on questioning her about the further time required for set up was quoted a further 20 min. I had business commitments and decided to come back and fetch the programmed box/decoder prior to her leaving at 4-30pm. On arrival back from my commitment approx. 1-30 and going to her counter, she was not present, however my decoder was still on her counter. she was sought and after a long wait and enquiring with her supervisor where and how long she was expected to be was told that she was upstairs and will be coming. On her return I was told that I needed an alternative decoder for a further investment of R450-R600. On enquiring why I was not contacted she stated that she was going to phone me, however clearly her lunch had priority and did not bother. This lack of respect for her customer, lack of knowledge it not acceptable. Now a further 30 min later, 2nd trip from southern suburbs for nil was the last straw. her supervisor Nokubonga Madala ( also very polite) and after my protestations as to how much of my time, as I still had further work commitments, agreed to have the 'new' decoder delivered. I have just received a call from the person delivering the decoder needing to confirm the delivery address which was incorrectly given to him. How on earth can DSTV be able to get away with this, in my opinion, systematic , orchestrated churn of 'old decoders' for updated equipment at the mercy of no choice and cost to their customers. On top of that a disrespect of their customers in the manner in which this deceit is rolled out. The decoder, I believe now an 'Explorer 2' (clearly what appears to be second hand) as per the box and stickers attached has been supp**** which after 30 min the technician, is still unable to connect. This 'new'solution which was supposed to be a plug and play issue. is requiring Lungile ( technical supervisor) now also involved, so how on earth would a subscriber be able to sort this out. It now appears that the 'used/repaired' decoder was not correctly set up prior to delivery. Currently I am unable to be put through to Nokubonga in the walk in call center from where my adventure started this morning, and from where a 'repaired' decoder has been supp**** to me under false pretenses.
