DSTV insurance a waste of money!

Lightning hit my house and my explora was damaged. That was Saturday 21 Jan.

Took it in to my dstv branch and they game me another machine. I do have insurance on my machine through dstv.

I got the replacement machine on Monday. The machine did not work when i plugged it in.

On Tuesday night i paid a techicial to help me. After he struggled for over an hour, we got dstv working.

Wednesday morning the dstv was dead again.

I took the decoder to the dstv agent and they said the machine was in working condition.

Wednesday after work i phoned the custumer care line and after a while they got it working and we could watch tv that night.

Thursday morning it was dead again.... same story as the previous day and that night we could watch again.

Friday morning it was dead again... same story as the previous 2 days.

Saturday morning when it was dead again, i took it back to the dstv office.

Then they told me that eventhough i have insurance, dstv does not give you a new machine, they give out Re-furbished machines. And they will keep on giving me a refurbished machine until i find one that works. Doesnt that sound rediculous???

So i asked them to give me a letter for my House insurance, then i can claim a new machine from them. No sorry... they dont give letters for insurance purposes...

So after a week (in which i am paying for dstv in full!), i have had minimum dstv reception, 2 machines later and i have no dstv at the moment!! The dstv agent also had no other solution than coming back repeatedly until i find one that works.

Dstv has contacted me and they are suggesting that it is my installation. They want the details of my installer to check if he is accredited with them.

I have been using this installer for years, and the installation has never been an issue.

When i asked her about the branch i visited, my decoder or my insurance, she rep**** that that is not the issue.

It sound like they are trying to shift the blame. The lady who phoned me offered no appology and offered no solution other than wanting the installers details.

Well done dstv... i still have no TV, and you also managed to give me a nasty temper!

Good day Mrs Van Rooyen

Thank you for taking our call today.

As discussed, we exchange your decoder with a refurbished one.

It is important that we liaise with your installer to establish the possible cause relating to the issue at hand.

The installer should be accredited with DStv hence we need the name and the contact details.

Kind regards

Dinah

I just spoke to the installer, and yes he is an accredited installer.

I should also have mentioned that my original decoder was not even a year old.
