DSTV HIDDEN AND DISHONEST REPRESENTATION OF PACKAGE COSTS

I have just started my first dstv subscription, I took the very cheapest package at R29 pm. After going through the whole process I am horrified to only find out at the end after installation that I have to pay an additional R110 pm to use the PVR facility. No where on the DSTV web site or at anytime during the lengthy and tedious process of taking out a subscription does it mention this payment and at no time purchasing a decoder either. I am extremely annoyed. I absolutely am so angry. Are you deliberately deceiving your customers by not making this information available anywhere???????????. This is extremely dishonest and underhanded not being up front with your customers and keeping costs deliberately hidden./ Wow multichoice, you have all my hatred. I will never support showmax or any services other than the basic R29 a month I am forced to pay.

A Multichoice agent called me to sort out my problem. She insisted that the extra costs for the PVR are listed on the web site. I waited on the line for 30 minutes while she tried her best to find any reference to the PVR costs, AND COULD NOT FIND THEM ANYWHERE, NOT EVEN IN THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS. I have this conversation recorded. So I ask you Multichoice. . . how dare you hide these extra costs? This is blatant abuse and dishonesty. I am almost certain it is *******. I am disgusted with this. You have wasted my time and the money I spent on a decoder with PVR facility. You are a disgusting company and I will never use your services. Shame on you. I insist on being given my PVR facility for no cost.

Excuse me for saying, but that's just nonsense. My whole complaint is that you have hidden these PVR costs and made them vague. Please don't insult me by pretending otherwise. Nowhere in your web site or your terms and conditions does it provide any clarity at all about PVR fees being an optional extra cost. It would be damn easy to state on your package costs that the easy view costs R29 plus R110 if I want to use the PVR that I have already paid for!!!!!! But you don't because you deliberately want to deceive your customers. Its disgusting. I am shocked at your lack of integrity and you should all be ashamed.

Hi Paul,

The feedback from the escalation confirms that: The PVR functionality is an optional extra and our definition of “fees” in our terms and conditions does refer to “fees for optional extras”.
