DSTV forcing me with a debit order in order to refund my credit

So I pay my dstv subscription via eft and in December I mistakenly paid R5000 instead of R500. I then asked for the difference to be refunded back to my account and had submitted all the documents they asked for, this was done on the 27th of December 2024 and I received a confirmation email that a query has been innitiated and documents(proof) have been sent to the relevent department for processing, I was told it will take between 7-14 days. Today is day 12 and I follow up with them only to be told that documents have not been attached to the call and that I would need to subscribe to Debit order payment for me to get my hard-earned cash back.

Question, is debit order the only acceptable method of payment in South Africa ?, if not then why are consumers being forced against their wish to a point of *********?

Just for the record, I have spent around R100 on calls to dstv trying to get my money back.
