We recently upgraded our DSTV decoder to the Explora and we are not happy! We feel it is not worth it.

We can't watch our favourite shows that we used to on Catch Up without connecting the decoder to the internet. Now we have to pay extra money (on top of the R900) to put an internet connection in our house. On top of that, Box office is all but non-existent. All of a sudden Box Office is not available in our region (but it was on the previous PVR decoder)

We have spoken to the Multichoice / DSTV customer service 4 times over the phone (once a week) and no one can tell us what is wrong or help us fix the problem. We have been told to disconnect cables, plug them back in, reset to factory settings, reboot the decoder and they have (apparently) reset it on their side as well.

Now we have to take our brand new decoder to the nearest service centre to get checked and fear that they have us drive all the way there and not fix it. Surely Multichoice can send a technician to check it and replace it?

It is not acceptable to pay a premium for something that is not at all as advertised (without internet and sufficient support).

Best regards,
