DSTV Explora is the WORST !!! Don't fall for the advertising !!!

<p>After procrastinating for several months as to whether to upgrade our HD PVR to the Explora on price lock, we finally pulled the trigger and ordered the unit. Despite the several week wait, and several phone calls & follow ups later (probably amounting to more than 3 hours on the phone in total), we finally received the unit and had it installed.</p> <p>WOW - What a disappointment!!!! You cannot use the Explora without a decent wifi connection. Now instead of DSTV offering catch up which you'd previously be able to watch via the satellite dish immediately, you now have to use your wifi connection to pay for bandwidth and wait while your catch up title downloads. This was never advertised, that we now had to download everything on catch up & Box Office over our paid for data, instead of over the free satellite dish. We have a 6mb/s line...........and it takes forever and the whole unit froze up when I tried to catch up by downloading one 610MB SD show. </p> <p>If I wanted to download movies & shows, then I'd rather get a ShowMax & Netflix subscription for a fraction of the price! DSTV will be dead soon if this carries on.</p>
