DStv Explora DPP department Problems
<p>"If it's too good to be true, it probably is". This cliche seem to be very accurate in the case of the price lock/dpp deals that dstv offers. I made the switch to the decoder payment plan in February afters seeing the adverts on TV. But it has been nothing but endless frustration. First there was no one in my area on the list of acreddited installers for this specific deal. So I had to get someone from a neighbouring town to do the installation and pay for his travel cost. So much for free installation. When the installer arrived, he had absolutely no idea how to connect the explora. He had to phone a technician the whole time and still had to come back the next day to fix my system. He rocked up at my place with a bunch of his buddies and they sat in my drive way drinking and partying while he was working. I had to do research online to fix the problem myself as he way unable to do so. After that my system worked fine. But end off the month when the debit order went off I noticed that the amount was slightly higher than it should be, but thought that it might be a once off cost for activation that I had to pay. Until the next month when the debit order went off for R1244 instead of the R899 that i was promised on the DPP pricelock deal. i immediatly phoned the call centre. after holding for about 15 minutes someone finally answered and confirmed that i should only be paying R899 and it was a mistake and i should recheck my bankstatements. i left it there and thought it was an error and would be fixed. the next month the debit order went off for R1244 again. once again I phoned the call centre and was told to send through bank statements to prove this. i did this immediatly and waited for a response. But i never heard back from anyone or got an enquiry ref number. I tried various other ways to get in touch with multichoice, like website and self service, and was given enquiry reference numbers but was never contacted within the 24 hour or even 24 days, for that matter. The next month i was billed R1244 again. I logged a complaint via Facebook and finally got a response. I was told to send my bank statements again. Which i did. I got an enquiry reference number again. After about a week, I was notified that it was an error on their side and was rectified, but not a cent was refunded to me. I should be refunded at least R1035 for al the extra i have payed in. But if i was to owe them even R10 my service would be cut off immediatly. A bunch of *******s if you ask me. And to top it off after just 4 months, I began experiencing problems with signal falling away on my new explora. I did some online research and found various dstv consultants explaining that there was a faulty batch of smart LNB's manufactured that tends to lose signal when it gets cold. his is exactly what happens in my case, as was the case for many other explora viewers that compalined on the varius forums. during the day with the sun out i have perfect signal, but at night when it gets cold i lose the signal. i even got an installer to check the cables and sinal strength to confirm this problem. it is definitely the LNB. So i logged a call to report this and ask for a replacement LNB as this is clearly a factory fault. The consultants on the forums also said details should be given through so field service technicians can replace the unit. it took me two weeks and 3 calls to finally get someone to phone me back. i was then told that i should have reported the problem within the first 3 month after installation and do not qualify for any repalcement. but the first 3 months i had the device it was summer and very hot outside during day and night and the problem was never experienced during night or day. it was only when winter set in that i had the problem. I have to restrain myself from swearing, but i am very very very dissapointed in dstv's service. i am a loyal costumer and have nener missed a payment and still i am being treated like a con artist. </p>
