DSTV Explora breaks 1 day after warranty period !!

Well the title says it all.

I could not believe it and just before the rugby started.

The main issue is the HDD. The Explora is CONSTANTLY busy recording and amending your CatchUp and

BoxOffice line-up and this is causing a lot of stress on the HDD. There is no way to shut the unit down and I was told that if one just switches the Decoder off while away from home, it will eventually ******* the HDD. It was simply designed to be ON forever! This is not efficient and senseless if one doesn't whatch CatchUp or BoxOffice and the decoder in question is your Holiday decoder. WHY leave it ON ??

Really disappointed as I had to fork out R700.01 (Don't miss the 1c) for a second hand "refurbished" decoder.
