This morning my Explora showed a purple window on my TV screen showing that my decoder is being upgraded with new software. After about 5 minutes error screen popped up informing the viewer that this process would restart. When restarting the BEI Error code appeared and thereafter the purple screen again informing the viewer of the new software upgrade. This whole process just repeated itself. I think powered off the decoder for 4 hours before returning and getting the same symptoms and error as experienced earlier. I subsequently phoned the Call Centre who advised me to go to my nearest DSTV shop as it could be the decoder itself, the hard drive or even my power supply. I then took it to our DSTV service centre who informed me that they have never seen this error on the EXPLORA but that it is common on the DUEL VIEW DECODER. After several attempts by the technician to resolve the problem I was informed that the EXPLORA is broken and will have to be replaced. I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this problem on the Explora and if so, how do I rectify it as I think it's very unfair to expect the customer to pay for a new decoder after a "*****ed" upgrade. I was offered a refurbished unit at R 700 but feel that this is unfair practice.
