DSTV Downgrades not on same terms as upgrades
DSTV allow , even encourage, temporary upgrades to packages and it is no prroblem for them to send you a pro-rata invoice which needs to be paid before the upgrade is active. After the holiday family guests hd left, I tried to downgrade back to my previous R105 package. No way to do t online! So I went in to DSTV in Port Elizabeth where I was told the same thing. I pointed out that a pro-rata refund could be done t y account (I wasnt needing a refund payment) but even so that was not able to be done.
A downgrade is sscheduled for 1 Feb 2020 meaning I have to pay smething like R350 extra for the service I wish to cancel. I am sure this is in contravention of the Consumer Protection Act.
Could you please advise?
And is there anything known about DSTV advertising income? Looks like theres just one irritating advert with an irritating **** dentist extolling Sensodyne's benefits.

Best regards,
On behalf of MultiChoice, I want to extend my sincerest apologies for the negative experience that you had with our service.
Please be advised that the services can only be downgrade once a month on your Invoice Date. Our records indicate that your payment date is on the 01ST, therefore, your services can only be downgraded on the 01ST.
The above is on our Terms and Conditions and embedded in our Customer Management System.
We advised you to get an additional decoder and set up a Holiday Account where you can have a flexible option. The Holiday Account will allow you to pay for specific dates and have it disconnected whenever you don’t have guests.

Having adverts is a way for the channel to receive income, to be used to purchase or commission more content. Another reason, generally channels schedule in half-hour or hour slots so adverts and promos are used to round off slots. For example, a 30 min comedy usually only consists of 22 min of content, so that 8 minutes need to be filled.
