DSTV Doesn't want to cancel my showmax subscription

I have called multichoice last year to cancel my showmax subscription. Then I was told that they are unable to do that I must contact showmax. A year later I contact showmax and they tell me that my account is with dstv. When I contacted dstv again, I was told to go back to showmax and cancel it on their website. Which I find it strange as on my account with showmax it shows that the subscription is with dstv.
