DSTv do not want new customers (or returning ex-customers)

Three years ago, I was a customer of DSTv. When thins stopped working, I took decoder and card to Multichoice in Lynwood rd. They said all was fine and sent technician to my home to 'fix' the problem. For over R600 he told me the problem was that the dish needed moving (it had worked there for years) and quoted me another R900+ to move it. I said thatt if that was the case, I no longer wanted DSTv. I stopped paying, the service was discontinued, I recieved sme sms's telling me to pay for the next month or face R50 reconnection fee. I ignored them as I did not want DSTv.

Now I try and be a customer again and they immeditately ask for R197 in arrear fees! I said I am not paying for something I never recieved and said DSTv will make it up in profit in the first month (I wanted premium subsciption initally). (besides, the law says unclaimed debts are to be written off in 3 years).

I said, would you rather not have me as a customer than waive the history of three years ago. They would rather not.

Oh well, let me just buy an OpenView decoder.
