DSTV Delicious festival was the worst festival I have ever experienced. I first had issues with howler and DSTV delicious in terms of the tickets they sold to me. There was a huge miscommunication and lack of accountability. I had a guest fly in from America to attend with me as I was sent an email from Howler that I should reassign my second “weekend pass” otherwise it would not be able to be used the weekend of the event. I bought my tickets in February 2022 and please tell me why they only informed me of this miscommunication the week of the event?? And it wasn’t clear communication, I had to call multiple times with no manager contacting me and me ultimately sending a message that if they do not respond I will show up to their offices so someone within the howler senior team could give me answers to my questions. They had 7 months to correct this “so called error”!!? This is called false advertising and I could have at least bought tickets in time for my guest who flew in from America. Luckily I managed to get her entertainment for that weekend with family because I could not source her tickets like mine. Ok. First of all the Saturday event (24 September 2022) was POORLY managed. From fighting with queue marshals for putting me in the incorrect queue to ultimately being told that I was correct after 2 hours of standing in the sun and almost passing out as well as having other people around me fainting completely. These people lacked the capacity for the numbers they allowed into the venue. You absolutely cannot tell me you did not have an estimated amount, based of ticket sales as well as your supposed “overflow”, of people attending. Not only did it take 2h30 to get inside just to be told I was correct for saying I’m meant to be in the VIP queue, it took another 2 hours just to get food. Apart from the heat from the sun, the 2h30 wait time and 2 hours getting food, the lounge I was in had a limited selection and limited number of drinks. There was poor sound, I genuinely could not hear what the performers were saying through their mics. Sound quality was horrible. Even the screens were not clearly visible from where I was seated. Planning was just so poor. This event was a waste of money. I got to see Burna Boy on Saturday but at what cost? Burna Boy is an amazing performer and he was let down by the organisers. The greed displayed was overwhelming and disgusting. DSTV delicious had no regard for the people in attendance and lacked efficiency. There are other elements I cannot speak too much on because I know in a country riddled with crime certain things are bound to happen and are inevitable. But the elements that could have been controlled by the organisers should have been in check especially for the amounts that were charged for the tickets. Sunday was a little better as I guess it was because the crowd was smaller and filled with more seasoned and mature people as well as more police and security on site. My question still remains, why was that not the case on Saturday?? Knowing your numbers are much larger than the Sunday (25 September 2023) ticket sales? I’m highly disappointed and I will never buy tickets for this event ever again. My experience was too disappointing to want to try again. This was a slap in the face. I hope you learn from this but DSTV will never see a dime from my pocket ever again.
