DSTV deducts debit order, doesn't activate service and is in breach of contract
I entered into a 24-month contract for a DSTV Premium subscription on during April 2024. This contract was supposed to be a monthly payment, via debit order, in the amount of R990, for a 24-month contract period. On the 1st of May 2024, a pro-rata amount for April was deducted from my bank account.
However, my account has not been active since April and still isn't active, in spite of the debit order going off successfully on 1 May. Upon calling the pointless call center on 3 May, I was told that I had to make a manual payment of R990 plus.
This was never the agreement. The agreement between me and DSTV was that I would pay via debit order for a 24 month contract, and the first debit order did go off on 1 May, according to the service agent. Her first story was that the payment that went off on 1 May was a pro-rata amount for April, except we weren't able to watch DSTV during April.
She then later changed her story to allege that the debit order was for some kind of arrears on my account. This is total nonsense, I had NO arrears and didn't have an active DSTV subscription prior to entering into the contract in April 2024.
So although DSTV debited my account as agreed, they are in breach of contract because they have not activated my decoder and are now demanding an addition R990 plus payment, which is not what my agreement with them was. DSTV should either now activate my service immediately, or I will view this contract as null and void, with DSTV having failed to honour its part of the agreement

Firstly, DSTV go get yourself a large tent and some more clowns, because you are clearly running a circus.
I am hereby placing you on terms that, should my subscription not be active by 10am on Saturday, 4 May, I shall view the contract as null and void, due to Multichoice's non-delivery of a service which I paid for. This is utterly and completely unacceptable, and judging by the multiple other complaints against you, to say your service is execrable, would be to insult feces.
