DSTV CUSTOMER SERVICES NIGHTMARE
Another big corporate customer services horror story. The downside of dealing with a monopoly... I have been a customer of DSTV for decades. Every now and again I change one of my decoders and today was one of those days. My usual DSTV/TV man connected it up and then it was time to call the call center for help. I never use insulting or disparaging terminology, but this time I must. An idiot took my call. I explained the situation to her and she proceeded to ask for the "smart card" number. I explained to her my lack of knowledge of these matters and that I don't have. She then asked me for my "smart card" number. I went into greater debate with her and we agreed that I didn't have a clue so she asked me for my "smart card" number. After a few more "smart card" number requests, admittedly my voice went up a notch or two and she proceeded to do what all highly trained and competent call center clerks do - she put the phone down on me. I called back and this time introduced myself as DSTV's dumbest and lowest functioning customer ever - "Can you help me?". The reply was yes and I awaited the "smart card" number request. You can blow me over with a smart card.. Not even a mention of it.. "Don't worry sir, we can do without the smart card number". All sorted.. Happy customer.. Getting back to the idiot, all she needed to say was that she was out of her depth and that she would get someone to assist. Instead, she convinced me to write this review.
