On Monday, 3 March 2025 I bought a new Explora 3B decoder from Makro Centurion in a sealed container. The serial number of the decoder was A*** and the IUC number was ***. When I opened the container I found that the connecting cable between the decoder and TV was not included in the container and the included power cable did not fit the decoder. When I phoned the DSTV Call Centre to register and activate the decoder, I was assisted by a very friendly and competent lady with the name of Promise Selepe. To my surprise she told me that she could not activate the decoder as it was already registered to somebody else. When I took the decoder back to Macro for an exchange I was told by the manager of Makro that they do not keep the container seals at Makro, but that the containers are sealed by DSTV themselves. This leads me to believe that DSTV is deliberately committing ***** and misleading its clients by selling used and second-hand decoders in resealed containers. I was unable to contact DSTV to lodge a complaint, but I believe consumers should be warned about such *****ulent business practices.
