DSTV (Canal+) doing doggy paddle in the Atlantic ocean.
The fact that DSTV is haemorrhaging subscribers is definitely not in question. The real question is why? From my own experience, I can shed some light. I used to have three active premium subscriptions - my Mom, myself and my Fiance's Mom, running concurrently, and for many, many years. When COVID hit, income dropped and paying for all three became problematic. I fell behind for an 8 day period and DSTV's gratitude for the mega amounts of money I had spent with them over the years, earned me a letter of demand. WOW! Needless to say, I cancelled all the subs and have been DSTV free until about two weeks ago, when I joined Compact streaming. From the start there were issues with the service. Somehow, my details and my late parents' details were mixed up on the system and my Compact channels would not populate on the app - save for four channels. After much holding for help, I was assisted with the issues, and my mobile and one TV were populating with all the channels. Great! I was assured that all the problems were resolved, and all would be well going forward. That was almost true. When I tried to add another TV out of my four allowed registered devices, the exact same thing happened. The channels would not populate. Bear in mind that I had my mobile working, one TV working, and now the second TV (the 3rd device out of my allowed 4) was not populating. Again I got hold of DSTV - this was on January 27th 2026. I was told, after a long wait, that the issue was with DSTV systems, and could not be resolved at that time. BUT, I would be called within 24hrs with an update and a solution. Well it's now January 31st 2026, and still no call and still no update. So, still smarting from my previous treatment by DSTV 4 years ago regarding my 8 day late payment debacle, I have decided to cancel the streaming package. I was back for a total of two weeks. Let me just say that for a company bleeding subscribers at an alarming rate, service and subsequent customer retention should be priority number one. It does not seem to matter to the people I dealt with. Very good luck to you Canal+. At this rate, you're going to need a biblical intervention to survive this mess. I for one am getting out the popcorn with a smile on my face. MAN, do you guys deserve what's coming!
