DSTV Broadcasting monopoly - Rugby World Cup Japan 2019

Today was the rugby world cup final in Japan - and the South African Springboks won! This is great for SA and uniting our nation right? I was told that Zia our captain thanked the 57 million SA supporters at home. What to me is however not great is that out of that 57 million SA supporters only the select few who can afford the DSTV premium bouquet had the joy in watching the game! Why? Because Supersport 1 is only available on the premium bouquet! It is clear that DSTV has the monopoly in broadcasting is SA and that is not right! Surely they could have made the final available on all their Supersport channels so as to ensure that more SA supporters had the joy of watching the game and supporting our great nation especially with the SABC also not able to broadcast it due to cost saving! But no, DSTV will rather brag and advertise how many millions it spends on sponsorships and giving shares to thousands! What a pity! It is high time that DSTV loses it monopoly in SA as it is clear they only want the money of the riches and care less about the 30% unemployed and less privileged of South Africans! Piet van der Watt
