DSTV billing a mess

It's more convenient for me to bill my DSTV account though my credit card. My old credit card expired Feb-2016. I proactively updated my details in Jan-2016 so that the billing can go through on the newly issued card.

This update clearly didn't work, since I received a snotty phone call after the old card expiry. I manually paid (with the card reflecting on my DSTV profile!? no changes/updates required!?), but also informed the call centre agent that they need to check & fix their system, since the details on my profile seemed 100% correct (i.e. only new card reflecting).

A month later I received another snotty call - and I asked that the call centre agent to actually just cancel my subscription, since I didn't appreciate the snotty calls and really couldn't care less to put up with such poor admin.

At no stage did I willingly authorise DSTV to give me their subscription services on credit. I was under the impression that it is a pre-paid service.

I re-activated my DSTV this weekend, hoping that the card admin glitch would be sorted if I reactivated from scratch. I had to first pay an arrears amount of R415.73 (please explain how this is possible!?).

Then I had to pay a further pro-rata amount for the remainder of this month of R407.00.

Imagine my surprise when I receive an SMS this morning that I've been handed over to Vericred for a further outstanding amount of R307??? For what exactly?

This is clearly going to affect my credit record if not fixed, and this started because of DSTV's poor admin.

I actually just want my account cancelled again if this poor service is going to continue - no additional subscription on credit this time please. I do not want to do business with such a badly administered company.

Any credit score affecting steps DSTV took must also be reversed. At no stage did I willingly authorise DSTV to provide services on credit.

Good day Theuns

We have checked your DStv account which is now paid and the service is active.

According to our records, your DStv service remained active and was suspended on the 14 March 2016 due to non-payment. For this reason, your account remained with an overdue of R407.00 that you had to settle before the service is reconnected. Upon the reconnection of service, you were required to add the pro rata balance of R415.73 to cover your DStv service till the 27 October 2016.

Should you still wish to carry on with your DStv service, you will be required to pay R844.00 on the 28 October 2016.

We will refer your account to our Delisting department to have a confirmation letter regarding the current status of your DStv account.

Please do confirm should still wish to cancel your DStv service at the end of this month.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

Best regards

Dinah
