DSTV Billing

In 2015 I decided to cancel my DSTV account. This was an easy process, and was done over the phone. The person who helped me, cancelled my account and assured me that all is in order. Done. In 2017 i received a phone call from Shapiro Shaik Defries Attorneys, advising me that I've been given over to them by DSTV for my outstanding account. Absolutely shocked, I told them its impossible as my account was closed in 2015. I emailed DSTV asking what the issue was, this was the response I got from them.

"Your account has a credit balance of R789.33 when your services was cancelled in 2015. Then reconnection was done incorrectly in August 2015, debit order collected R818.67 on the 01/09/2015. We then refunded you R1608.00 on the 03/09/2015, order collection R818.67 and R789.33 that you had as a credit amount when your services were cancelled in July 2015. But now the issue here is that, the debit order amount of R818.67 that we refunded you returned unpaid on the 08/09/2015. This is the amount that you owe Multichoice, we refunded you an amount that we did not receive since debit order returned unpaid. Please check with your bank for this transactions. Please pay R818.67 that is due on this account." My response to them: I am extremely confused, because the day after my last debit order went off my account in 2015, they assured me that my account is clear, and everything is sorted on both sides. Also, if this happened in 2015, why haven't you (DSTV) made contact with in the October 2015 to advise that you guys made the mistake? Why am i only hearing this from an attorney in October 2017?? For me this is bad management, you cant expect someone to pay for something that happened in 2015, and on top of that not make contact with the person first, you just 'ship' them to the attorney?

No one has responded to my emails, and this is not the first time i am asking the above questions? i respond with the same answer and no one can answer me. If this was picked up in 2015, by all means I would have spoken to my bank and we could have fixed this, but they want me to go back to 2015 in 2017? Absolutely not. Its not my fault it was only picked up now.
