DSTV ARREARS WHAT!!!!!! R1699 GOODBYE DSTV

Let me start by saying that I have been a loyal customer of DSTV for the past 7 years or so.... there were a couple of months where I couldn't really afford to have my DSTV on for that month, but it didn't really bother me because I knew DSTv could never go into arrears. I knew that if i didn't pay they disconnect it immediately. Which was okay with me because I like the fact that you pay upfront for what you watching. Anyways on the 3rd of September my debit order for my DSTV went off. My family and I were going away for most the month so we thought we'd disconnect the DSTV for this month as we wouldn't be home anyways. and it would save us some money. WE returned the debit order and left in a hurry to our destination. knowing all well that the services will be disconnected in a day or too after receiving an SMS from multichoice. when we returned yesterday, the kids obviously wanted their cartoon channels on. so i called the call center for the amount to pay to have it connected again. Call Center Agent Khanyisile Tsotetsi tells me the amount due till next debit date is R1699. WHAT!!!!!!!!! I asked him to give me a breakdown of this amount and too my surprise R600 odd was an arrears amount??????? I asked him why arrears. He explain that after the debit was returned on the 3rd sept. it was only disconnected on the 16th sept ??????? I then proceeded to tell him that this wasn't actually my problem. and he confirmed that it should've been disconnected maximum 5 days later..... I asked to speak to a manager. I was put on hold for quite a while when someone answered the phone and ask me what my problem was, TO my suprise this was also a call center agent acting as a manager, I then became Irate which doesn't normally happen. and waited a further 5 min for a manager. Mr. Thomas Monareng. Who was obviously very agitated that i insisted on a manager. I told him the whole scenario and he advised me that I was supposed to call in to have it disconnected which I wasn't aware of. I told him i understood that but that it also wasn't my fault that they kept the services running for so long after payment was due..... I then proceeded to tell him that I understand that I have to pay this and wanted to comprise with him to meet me half way with a goodwill gesture. Mr Monareng. believes this is my own fault and that I don't deserve a goodwill gesture......... I am appalled by the service I received last night. especially for Thomas. I am definitely considering getting a Netflix account which will cost me a mere R99......
