DSTV accounting is a joke
I got DSTV while I was living in CPT. I enquired about connecting and disconnecting DSTV as I only use it for watching sports. I was told to disconnect I can just stop paying and to reconnect I just have to pay R50-00 reconnection fee with the monthly installment. (this was in Maponya mall) Unfortunately I can not remember how long ago this was. I moved to Alberton in the meantime connecting and reconnecting as was instructed without any issues.

I wanted to disconnect my account end of January 2015, so as instructed I stopped paying. Today 2015/06/12 I received an SMS stating that multichoice handed me over to ITC as I owe them R155-17

I phoned their call center to find out where this money owing them came from. Apparently their sales consultants in shop gave me the wrong information. I feel the hones should not fall on me as I have been given the wrong information.

As well as why was it never an issue for years before now?

The last thing that really upset me is why give me over to the ITC without contacting me once over an issue that I am not even aware of

Thank you for taking the time to point out our service failings. As we continually strive to improve our service, feedback such as yours is extremely valuable.
DStv service is a month-to-month contract - when you pay your subscription, the contract for that month is fixed.
It is the responsibility of the subscriber to inform MultiChoice that they will not be using the service for the upcoming month. Should this not happen the subscriber will be responsible for any amount that accumulated in his or her account.
We've now implemented a tool to schedule your upgrades, downgrades or suspension of services .You may phone us or use self-service at any time to request the change, which we will implement on your next payment date.
Our intention is certainly not to provide a sub-standard service to our customers.
