Dont decline DSTV Insurance - it will cost you!!
I have had my DSTV premium account with 2 devices for almost 2 years and never had a problem with them at all. Last week an agent from the Insurance division called me and asked me quite forcefully to take out insurance on my devices over the phone, easy as pie, but I said no thank you, I was happy. Before the day had even ended my primary decoder went on the blink and turned off for 2-5 minutes and this happened again and a few more times over the next 2 days. So Strange!!! Then I remember that the exact thing happened to my business partner last year, where he had a call from DSTV Insurance which he declined and then his decoders started doing all sorts of strange things with the service going off first on his primary decoder and then on his secondary decoder after also not experiencing any issues. HE ended up having to pay an installer to come out and resolve the problem.
So I am not sure if this is the latest trick but it happened to my business partner a few months ago and happened to me last week, both in the same week we declined their insurance product.
I cant imagine that Multichoice is so desperate to need to resort to what appears to be ***** practices to make some more returns for their shareholders.
I would be interest to know if anyone else has had this issue.
