Don't upgrade to Explora!

In June of this year I made the fatal mistake of convincing my husband for us to upgrade our normal DStv PVR to Explora. Dstv were running a special in which you only pay R100 more a month, and you get a new Explora decoder, free installation and that's your fee for the next year (or two, I can't remember).

I was happy with that. I smsed the number, Dstv called and immediately organized it with me, got my banking details and debit order sorted and had the decoder delivered. They gave me the names and numbers of accredited installers that I was only allowed to use in my area. So I called Focal Point Technicians based in Northwold.

This gentleman arrived 3 hours later than our appointment, and proceeded to do the most shocking job of installing our Explora. It is now September and our decoder still regularly loses signal (as in every 2 to 3 minutes it goes on the blink), making it impossible to record anything that comes on Dstv. Every file that says it's recorded is *******ed.

I informed Dstv about this as per my attachment to this complaint. To this date absolutely nothing has been done to assist me. I am now paying R100 more a month and I can't record anything, we can't watch anything without the tv blanking out every few minutes, and my TV upstairs which is supposed to be connected (and was briefly for a week or two after this shocking installation) has now been totally cut off.

I have had two people from Dstv call, and make me retell them the entire story over and over again, apologise and promise to send out a technician and they still have not.

I wish we had stuck with our old PVR as this upgrade has been a nightmare. Now that Dstv has my extra R100 a month and I'm locked into a contract they don't care to resolve my small issue which is easily within their power.
