disgusted by lack of transparency
End of July (not sure of the date), I received a call from Multi choice informing me my account that I had disconnected in April was in arrears. I asked why and the lady told me it was because I didn't inform them that I would be discontinuing service with them and the disconnection fee is R166.30.
Today (07.08.14) my banker informed me I was in ITC system due to multi choice outstanding payments. I called multi choice immediately to find out what was happening. After being sent from pillar to post I spoke to a lady whose name I can't recall. I explained to her my situation and she reported that she isn't sure why it would go to ITC as it should only be sent after 6 months. I inquired about how I could go about clarifying the problem. She informed me I would have to pay the amount and wait 1 to 2 weeks for it to be cleared. She couldn't transfer me to department responsible and told me to send an email to enquiries.
my dissatisfaction is as follows:
1. Why were they not transparent about their disconnection terms and conditions.
2. Why inform me four months later about this information?
3. Why send me to ITC system without informing me.
4. Why should I wait 1 to 2weeks.
It is with regret that we learn of your unpleasant experience in dealing with MultiChoice and the level of service you experienced in this regard.
Our intention is certainly not to provide a sub-standard service to our customers. In fact, our focus is to provide great experience to our customers in all your dealings with us.
DStv service is a month-to-month contract - when you pay your subscription, the contract for that month is fixed.
It is the responsibility of the subscriber to inform MultiChoice that they will not be using the service for the upcoming month.
Should this not be done the subscriber will be held responsible for any additional amount accumulated on your account.
Thank you for taking the time to point out our service failings. As we continually strive to improve our service, feedback such as yours is extremely valuable.
Once again please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience you may have experienced in this regard.
Your support, and that of all our customers, is important to us.
