Disgraceful Multichoice
After yesterdays thunderstorm in Gauteng there were numerous channels I could not access. I rebooted, scanned all channels, reinserted the smart card and pulled out the plug and left for 2 minutes. Nothing helped. I contacted the call center who told me to do what I already had done numerous times. That particular agent could not help me. This morning I chatted to another agent via online chat. He told me to do the same thing. Still nothing. He said he would send a message to those concerned to clear all possible errors. He said that if after an hour it was still not rectified I should bring the decoder in. I went tothe call center in Randburg. This is where the fun starts. There was a queue of approximately 50 people waiting outside in a slight drizzle, nothing too bad. No umbrella required. After waiting in the queue for an hour I eventually turned the corner and saw there was another smaller queue. The person in front of me informed me that the smaller queue was for screening, which was meant to be done before joining the queue I was already in. There was absolutely no signage or anyone from Multichoice any where in sight. People were extremely angry and frustrated and there was absolute chaos as nobody knew what to do. I stood in the queue to be screened which took about 10 minutes. The lady screening me was very friendly and did her job admirably. I told her there was no signage telling people to be screened before joining the queue or anyone from Multichoice controlling this and informing customers what to do. She said she would talk to management immediately and informed me that many customers were complaining about the same thing. I rejoined the queue and then 5 minutes later someone from Multichoice appeared and told everyone to move to the back of the parking lot in the same order we were in the queue. Absolute chaos, People were angry and did not know what to do. The Multichoice representitive had no people skills and could not restore any sort of order. She told us that when it was our turn we would get a phone call as we had given our cell numbers at the screening. There was absolute chaos and no social distancing, people wearing their face masks beneath their chin and nobody from Multichoice gave a damn, What is the point of screening when nobody is enforcing social distancing or wearing face masks correctly. I decided to go home for these reasons. I regard myself as a reasonable person and I fully understand that due to Covid 19 I would have to wait a lot longer than usual, but this is unacceptable. The only reason I subscribe to DSTV is for the live sport. Everything I enjoy on DSTV like documentaries and food programs are available on Netflix for a lot less than you charge and the variety is much greater than you offer. If you want to watch live sport we have to subscribe to you, there is no other option. You know this and you do not give a damn about the service. What a great position to be in. Its a disgrace. I would like to make suggestions that would solve the issue I had to experience. 1 PUT UP SIGNAGE TELLING PEOPLE THEY MUST BE SCREENED FOR COVID 19 BEFORE JOINING THE QUEUE AND HAVE SOMEONE FROM MULTICHOICE EXPLAINING THIS AND ENFORCING SOCIAL DISTANCING. 2 GIVE PEOPLE A NUMBER WHEN SCREENING SO WE KNOW WHERE WE ARE IN THE QUEUE (LIKE YOU DO WHEN INSIDE THE BUILDING). 3 ITS RAINY SEASON SO TAKE A TINY BIT OF THE BILLIONS YOU MAKE AND BUILD A SHELTER TO PROTECT PEOPLE IN THE QUEUE FROM THE RAIN. This complaint will probably land up on the desk of the manager that is responsible for this chaos. You dont deserve your job sir/madam and I hold you responsible for this chaos. I feel sorry for anyone who has a problem with their decoder and has to take it in. There are Government departments more organised than you Multichoice. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Disgraceful. PS. I arrived at Multichoice at 11.30am and its now 4.36pm. I still have not received the phone call telling me it is my turn.

There is organisation, someone controlling the queue and enforcing social distancing and customers know where to go and what to do. It took only 30 minutes to get screened and served. Thank you Multichoice.
