I downgraded my DSTV subscription at the end of last month from DSTV Family to DSTV Easy View. When I downgraded I made a mobi payment of R29 for Easy View. I was not aware of the additional insurance. On the 1st August my bank account was debited with the DSTV Family premium. Therefore DSTV had debited me with 248.50 and I had made a payment of R29 for EasyView. I was however downgraded to EasyView as requested. I therefore returned the debit order of R248.50 as I was now on EasyView and not the Family package. A few days later my DSTV was disconnected. When I phoned the call centre on the 12th August 2016, a helpful lady helped me and I explained my situation. She told me not to worry, that she would reconnect my service the same day and would not charge me reconnection fee as it was not my fault. She did request that I make a payment of R29.50 for the insurance(which I did the same day at Checkers) and that as from the 1st September I would be debited with an amount of R58.50. My service was not connected the same day however, but the next day. Wednesday, the 17th I get home, only to find that I have been disconnected again. I phoned DSTV yesterday and spoke to Bianca and asked her why I had been disconnected. She mentioned the debit order that had been returned and eventually she saw that I had made a payment for Easy View and the Insurance. She said the reconnection was pending and after insisting that my DSTV be reconnected she did reconnect but told me that on the 1st September I would be charged with the monthly premium, plus reconnection fee and a pro rata payment. I argued that it was not my fault as payment for the Easy View service that I am receiving was made before the beginning of the new month and do not understand what I must pay the prorata for at all. I am very unhappy that DSTV is charging me reconnection fees and a prorata payment for something that was not my fault. I am quite prepared to make the payment of R58.50 as agreed upon in my original discussion with the first lady. If you look on my record, you will say that I have always paid my subscriptions on time and for most of my time I have been a Premium Package payer. Now that I have downgraded I seem to be getting shoddy service. I would appreciate it if this could be sorted out immediately.
