Decoders a complete dud

We upgraded to the new explora in last year, but lately we have been having problems on a daily basis. It does not want to change channels, show recordings, when my husband wants to read the sport news it only keeps on loading and loading and then hangs, you have to restart the whole decoder. I pay for a service which I am definitely not getting and it aint cheap, not at all!! There is no error code that can help this, and when you phone in they only resend the signal. Looks like the more Multichoice wants to cram in the box the less it works.

Hello myrna1,

The problem you are experiencing could either be decoder or installation related.

The first thing that you need to do is check that your satellite cables are correctly inserted into your Multiswitch (small silver and black box) and then into your decoder.

Once this is done, check you satellite signal strength and quality by following the below:

Help -> Gerenal information -> tuner status -> scroll right

If your signal strength is less than 95% or your signal quality is less than 98% then the probability is that your bad signal is dish related. Normally accredited installers offer a three to six month guarantee after they have visited your property.

Now reset your device (switch off and on at power point and allow decoder to scan). If you still experience these problems, you need to take your decoder and multiswitch to your nearest agency or branch for testing.

The agency will advise if you require an installer.
