Debt Collectors outright, no personal outreach & will notify wife of debt but not give details!
Late Friday afternoon I received a missed call from DSTV's debt collectors. I notified my husband as its in his name and then logged onto the DSTV online platform to get a balance and pay it but my husbands details had been deleted. I then used their whatsapp portal, that, using my husband's ID said the account and been disconnected. I asked for a balance and again it said, it had been disconnected and did I want to reconnect. NO AMOUNT OUTSTANDING WAS GIVEN.
Prior to the Level 5 lockdown, we gave DSTV notice. When the final payment was due, on the 25th of April, which would have afforded us 1 whole months worth of viewing as it is paid in advance, we could not cover ANY of our debit orders. We notified DSTV of this, their response was thank you and you will be disconnected shortly. This didn't phase us as we were leaving anyway. Our DSTV WAS CUT OFF, prior to the 25th of May, between the 1st and the 10th if memory serves. We received as SMS saying, it had been disconnected and to reconnect to pay the R399. We didn't have the money and didn't want to reconnect.
Now, I'm wondering are we going to be billed for a FULL month, that we did not have access to, with their collection agents fees included? This is disgusting. Yet another company with zero covid-19 compassion, financially speaking and zero concern for customers, why not call us and remind us instead of sending the details directly to the collectors!? Secondly why is it OK for the collectors to announce themselves to me, the wife, but not give me the outstanding amount in order to settle the matter?
MONEY, MONEY, MONEY, that's what its about, COVID-19 is showing many companies true colours since it hit our s****s. If they demand the full R399 and more, I will be back here to warn anyone stupid enough to use their services.
