Complex Cable Upgrade resulting in channel loss

I live in a complex where multiple tenants share a satellite dish. On the 30th of October the body corporate announced that they will be upgrading Dstv installation to be compatible with the latest Dstv technology.

From the day the upgrade was done up until today (it's been a month)I have been having issues with my decoder. For the first week I could not view some channels (i.e. MzansiMagic, Vuzu, Channel O etc), other channels were playing perfectly. The error message I received was this is due to bad weather or faulty installation. The weather was perfect.

We called Fritz the guy in charge of the installation, friendly guy at first. It took forever for him to figure out what the problem was, he even changed the LNB cable and that didn't help.

He took the decoder to multichoice (Carlswald, Midrand) and they said there is nothing wrong with it. He climbed up the roof and did whatever he did there and all of a sudden all the channels played. They assured us that they know what the issue was and it won't happen again. Not true. In less than 2 hours we lost the channels again while we were watching TV. We called them again and the entire process repeated. Climb up the roof, change a few settings and the channels play. 2 hours or so later, channels disappeared.

Eventually we resorted to rebooting after every 2 hours in order to get all the channels to work, while they were busy tring to figure out what the problem was. You can imagine how frustrating that is. By now our guy Fritz is getting unreliable, he says he will come fix and never pitches. He says will call in 5 min and never calls. So we have to keep changing our plans to accommodate him.

Finally he changed the settings with the help of Multichoice agent over the phone. The channels all played perfectly for about 2 weeks before I experienced problems again. This time the channels were playing but the picture and sound were distorted, on all channels. We try to reboot and restore to factory settings and that just brought us back to square one, loss of channels.

Long story short, Fritz' contract (upgrading of installation) ends tomorrow 30th November and they will charge a call out fee anytime we need a problem fixed. He hinted that the decoder might not be compatible with the new upgrade and that I need to buy a new one. Now we are arguing over how that is my problem? Why is my decoder not compatible? He claims all the other decoders in the complex work. I don't care about that. I just want to know why mine is not working. It's been working perfect until the upgrade. He hung up the phone on me.

He keeps insisting that the decoder is faulty but won't say what the problem with it is. He says he will connect his explorer in my place and if it works then it means I need to buy a new decoder. This is what infuriates me, I can't be expected to buy a new decoder without knowing what is wrong with this one. If multichoice says there is nothing wrong my decoder, why would I need to buy a new one???

Bare in mind that I have been paying for channels that I cannot even watch!

Can't even express how angry I am with this, I have been very patient and now I've had it!
