Charged for a forced service

I had a bit order on my credit card for my dstv service and all was fine, one day the service is cut so I call dstv and I get told the method of payment I was using was stopped...to my surprise as no communication was made to inform me of this. So they turn it on because the guy I spoke to didn't understand how I could have has the service active if they were not receiving my money. They stopped the method of payment, didn't communicate it with me, so they continued giving me the service even months after they had stopped the method of payment I use then 6 months later they want be to pay them for those months that I actually did not opt to have, I was given a service without my permission and without payment and without knowledge of it and now being told I have to pay for this, this against consumer law and would really like this sorted out as soon as possible. It's really unacceptable how they have displayed no care after the countless amount of attempts in phone calls that I have made.
