BOGUS COMPETITIONS
On the 27th of November at 09:00, I was minding my own business. To my elation Multichoice called me to inform me that because I was such a loyal customer, I had won tickets for myself and a partner to attend the elustious and much sort after Global Citizen concert on 02 December which featured headlining acts like Beyoncé Jay Z Coldplay and Ed Sheeran. All the consultant on the phone asked me was if I'd be able to attend. Of course I could. I was very very excited and confirmed my email address. Only to find that the caveat was that I had to come and fetch the tickets PERSONALLY from reception in Johannesburg on Wednesday and Thursday during office hours strictly. Mind you, I'm based in Durban and I work at a hospital 08:00 - 16:00 every day. I called the head office and they refused to assist with alternative arrangements and suggested I meet the Terms and Conditions.
In short, Multichoice got my hopes up for NOTHING! I didn't ask for any tickets, I never entered any competition. Why make bogus competitons where you know you actually have no intention of coming forward with the prize?? I get a misleading phone call from an agent who didn't mention the terms and conditions upfront and had to suffer the inconvenience of making multiple phone calls to a call centre and having to explain to my friends and family when I'm no longer going to the concert.
This is bad practice, period. Just another reason why people are switching to Netflicks
