I have two dstv decoders and two subscriptions with multichoice. They both air the compaq package but they are both paid for in full (not extra view). In June 23rd I only paid for one subscription. I paid R345 + R20. Both decoders remained on up until the 10th of July. The one decoder that was not paid for was disconnected from the compaq services. The other continued to air the compaq up until the month ended. At the 26th of July I again paid R345+R20. The decoder that was cut off from the services was still off and the other continued to air. On the 5th of August the decoder that aired the compaq all along received a message that R690 had to be paid or else services would be disconnected. I sent an email to multichoice on the 6th August explaining to them that we've been paying for one decoder all along as one had been disconnected. I made a request for them to keep the decoder they switched off as off and keep the one airing on (Enquiry Reference Number: ********** ). On the 7th of Aug I received a mail that said I should pay R478.55 or the account would be suspended. On the 10th of August the decoder that was airing the compaq subscription all along was disconnected from services too. I asked my son Thabang to log in a call for me to find out what happened. On the 11th the owed amount had gone down to R290. Which I was told I should pay first to settle my debt. Then I can now pay for this month's subscription which will be calculated in the days remaining. Multichoice says I never requested for one of the decoders to be disconnected from services, therefore I was billed for both decoders from the 26th of June. When I tell them one of my decoders was disconnected from the 10th of July up until the present day, they say their system doesn't say that. When I asked if whether or not they know that their system cuts off people who have exceeded the grace period for paying if they don't pay, they said they do know that happens. But when I ask why then is my case treated as though both decoders were on the whole month even though they know that's not possible, they said they don't have any proof of that. Even in the email I sent on the 6th of August, I indicated that one decoder was already disconnected from services. So I feel it's unfair for me to pay for the whole month of June, and a portion of July to August, for a decoder that was disconnected on the 10th of July. I asked if they can pro rata the bill and make me pay for viewing from the 26th of June to the 10th of July or make me pay up until the maximum allowed grace period by their system for that period. That request was not even considered. In conclusion, I am at fault for not communicating in time concerning the viewing changes. But I feel it's fair that I pay for the actual services provided, and not be made to pay outrageous amounts of money and only be told about the system. No one wants to go the extra mile for a client at Multichoice. This is unfair, even though I was initially at fault.
