Absolutely pathetic

After being a premium subscriber for 30 years I moved house and entered into a Price Lock package to get a new Explora 2. All went great and it was installed 2 days ago and we had good TV reception etc. Then the power tripped (load shedding?) and since then my decoder does not switch on. Called Multichoice who casually told me "Get in your car and drive 1700km to get the decoder checked or stay without TV" This was then confirmed as "standard procedure" by Mark Makampla, the manager. How ridiculous can a business get? And this is what I pay R1000 pm for?

To clarify the issue, power surges may affect electronic devices and it is advisable to take precautionary measures in incidents like the one you've noted above. And in he meantime I am unable to watch any sport which is the main reason for having DSTV and paying a monthly fortune!! A good service provider would have said: "As the equipment is brand new we will courier a unit to you to use while we resolve the problem. Once fixed we can swop back again"
