Avoid this company

We accepted an inflated quotation from DSI Steel because he was available to perform the required installation almost immediately. We paid him a R 94,798.00 (70%) deposit in September 2024. After much deliberation they arrived on site about one month later with lengths of rusted steel that was cut with a cutting torch, clearly being offcuts. When we objected he removed the steel and returned a month later with even worse steel, clearly second hand and completely unsuitable for the installation. We then involved an independent engineer who refused to approve such an installation. Hendrik van Eeden claimed to have consulted his own engineer, but when we contacted this engineer he denied being involved in the project at all. He did acknowledge that Hendrik contacted him over the phone and attempted to get him to approve the design over the phone, which he refused to do. We then instructed Hendrik to remove his material from site and repay our deposit as he was clearly not fit or qualified to deliver as per his quotation. He agreed , but disappeared after a week and ignored messages and calls. It is clear that this person had no intention of supplying the service and product. We have now handed the matter over to our attorneys to use all available means to recover our money.
