DSC Attorneys can't get us a settlement in 5 and a half years!!!!!! Pathetic.

Third-Party Insurance Claim.

My wife Sandra had an Insurance Claim for a dog bite dating back to 2017.

The attorneys that we appointed to handle this on our behalf are DSC Attorneys in Cape Town. As of May 2023, DSC attorneys had still not achieved a settlement for us!!!!.

We then asked a friend of ours Gordon Boler of Salvum Business Solutions to assist us.

Gordon achieved a settlement with the Insurance Company within 3 months after DSC Attorneys had not been able to achieve in just under 6 years!!

These are the FACTS that cannot be defined as defamatory as they are also a matter of Public Record.

1. 6th November 2017 - Sandra went to DSC Attorneys and signed their Agreement and became DSC’s Client.

2. 8th March 2018 - DSC finally sent a Letter of Demand to the Dog’s owner – why four months?

3. 5th November 2018 – Combined Summons issued almost exactly ONE YEAR after DSC were originally approached – why the big delay?

4. 8th November 2021 – Finally set down for a Hearing after Covid, but what happened between November 2018 and March 2020 when Covid hit us? – NOTHING!!

4.1. The matter was postponed.

5. 8th November 2022 – The Defendant (the Dog Owner’s Insurance Company) admitted Liability after five years when the Dog’s Owner had already admitted Liability in writing on the 27th of June 2017.

5.1. Why didn’t DSC do anything with this “Admission of Dog Bite” which clearly confirmed Liability five years previously?

5.2. The matter was again postponed until the 17th of April 2023.

6. 17th April 2023 the matter was again postponed until the 7th of November 2023. 6.1. By this stage DSC had not been able to get Sandra an offer after six years - ***?

7. I then approached Gordon me to see if he could do better.

7.1. Gordon runs both Money Matters Business Consultants and Salvum Business Solutions and have specialised in settling matters such as these for more than 30 years.

7.2. Despite DSC’s objection to his involvement, he manged to get an offer within a few weeks.

7.3. DSC expressed their concern that Sandra could lose that offer.

7.4. Regardless, Gordon manged to get an increased offer which we settled on the 14th of August 2023 for roughly four times what Sandra would have settled for.

The sole purpose of this post is not only to warn others with potential Third-Party Claims of some of the pitfalls, but also to:
