Unjustified additional charges

My son went in for a back operation in April 2019, at Wilgeheuwel, and had an MRI done before the operation. The radiologist admin department contacted my medical aid for an authorization number, and she then called me and provided me with the co-payment amount I had to pay, of R2200. I made doubly sure, seeing as she was calling me from a recorded line, to ask her if that was all that I needed to pay over, and she responded with a yes.

Being unemployed, I made sure that my finances were all in order to pay this amount, and I duly paid the co-payment, in good faith, believing it was in full final settlement.

To my surprise, 5 months after my son's surgery was done, I received a bill for an additional R600, that apparently my medical aid did not pay over. I emailed and explained that this was ridiculous, as no one called me, or told me about this "short payment", seeing that I was assured that the initial co-payment I had already payed, in good faith, was in full and final settlement.

I then received a call from Elsa, in the accounts department, who's attitude was absolutely disgraceful, and basically blamed me for the error. How can I be blamed for something I had nothing to do with? Your admin department were the ones who spoke to my medical aid, and you were the ones who did not explain to me how you negotiated the co-payment. So the blame falls squarely on your admin department to sort out. I was lead to believe that I had settled the co-payment in full, and I refuse to pay anything more than what I already have, as the short fall was not of my doing.

I would like this issue to be escalated to the MD of your company, as you handling of the issue has been dismal.
