UNHAPPY

I Am writting on behalf of a very dear friend who I am trying to help regards a medical condition she has.My friend joined a medical aid namely Momentum when in actual fact she really is unable to afford it however she is a single mom with two children and I have watched her really struggle financially when those children get sick.Endless days waiting at the goverment clinic in Mosselbay,taking leave from her employment which at times have been exahausted due to the fact of taking leave to sit at the clinic when one of the two children are sick, which results in unpaid leave .On the medical aid plan with Momentum it states they pay for X_rays and this is unlimited as long as it is the standard black and white Xrays. My friend then went to the doctor who ordered the xray to be done with Drs Coetzer Bartlett Dekker. The staff at the company never even inquired at momentum regards prior approval for the xray .My friend assuming all was in order and bear in mind she has never been on medical aid went for her xray. A Few day later she gets an account for the amount of R1084-74. My friend has made contact with the company only to find the medical aid does not cover the Xrays.I find this terribly dissapointing in the sense that this is a single mother batteling to even pay the monthly medical aid contributions and would rather go without food but pay her contributions.I believe that this company should be aware of the requirements of momentum and at least informed her that for these xrays there will be a charge due to the fact that momentum does not cover it.It is unknown also what xray was requested as no one would say. Lastly I would like to add that this is the treatment by medical personnal that are very well aware that some costs are not paid by the diffrent medical aids but choose to keep quiet for the sake of making an extra buck here and there regardless of people that suffer finacially.Its an absolute disgrace and I sincerely hope that the person benifiting from that buck one day has to answer for the disgraceful way in which they got that buck.Drs Coetzer bartlett Dekker you should be ashamed of yourself!
