Dros - Not such a good thing after all, I have had enough
I do see and I realise the Dros Birthday special did not go well everywhere. I do however feel a strong need to inform you that Dros Watermeyer is truly a disgrace to the franchise name and I am strongly considering Never going to Dros again. Myself and my family are frequent patrons at Dros in and and around Pretoria, our favourite being Dros Waterkloof, however we moved in to Silverton and Waterkloof is just a bit out of the way. That being said, Wednesday night we heard about the birthday special and decided to go to Dros Watermeyer which is our closest Dros. Being such a special I anticipated a long que to be seated, which was ok, I did not mind waiting. ( the wait turned into an hour and a half ) This mainly due to the fact that there was NO ONE at the door seating people. Customers from the back of the que pushed in to the front and was seated before the people not wanting to make a scene about it. When my family and I got to the front, some lady ( not even in any type of uniform ) said that the only place she could seat us, was at the bar in the smoking section. Now we are non smokers and we had our 18 month old baby with us, so as per Legislation we could not sit in the smoking nit that we ever wanted to. we then pointed out two open tables in the Non smoking section. we asked if we could sit there and she said ok, leaving us by the door. And actually informing us that the kitchen had 50 orders so we would have to wait for food. Which was not a problem as we made this a family night out. However just before she left us on our own to be seated, I asked for a waitress to serve us and also a toddler chair. After sitting at the table for over 20 min without a waiter, me getting a toddler chair myself, I decided to place our order at the bar as we had not received any waiter, nor had a couple other tables that were seated before us. None of the customers were even seated with menus. When arriving at the bar to order ( this now after almost 2 hours from when we got to Dros ) we were informed the Hunters dry was sold out, and that they were refusing to give substitute drinks. this was a problem for me, as we were not even informed of this after that long wait. When asking for a manager we were told he would be right with us. No shock, but that did not happen. After 10 min of waiting and asking the lady that seated us to also call the manager, she informed us that there was no manager. The bar tender then informed us that he was in the Kitchen and we would have to go to the kitchen to see him. I cannot see how that is acceptable in any way. By this time of the night the restaurant had cleared out and I counted at least six tables leaving without even being served. We then also left after over two hours wasted at this Dros. I cannot see how any of this could be allowed at such a big franchise restaurant. And it is clear to me why This Dros constantly advertises on Groupon to attract customers, however with this type of management or rather lack thereof, I am amassed that the doors are even still open. All the above I posted on the Dros website, and no one even bothered to respond. I am truly appalled by this service and cannot believe in this day and age restaurants get away with such bad service. Going to be interesting to see if they reply to this post, although I actually doubt it!!
