Droppa - Damaged Goods - No Responsibility
I recently used Skynet Worldwide Express South Africa's subsidiary Droppa to move some items from JHB to CPT
Included in this shipment was my Wharfedale diamond 8.4 audio system, which if you know sound, is not cheap.
I took extra care when I packaged these items and had corner guards on each speaker, 5 layers of bubble wrap, 5 more layers of cling wrap and then taped it all up.
These speakers weigh between 16kg - 30kg and are clearly not cardboard boxes with soft items inside them.
When the items reached home, the corners of all the speakers were damaged, one of the backing plates was caved in and the active subwoofer had 1 corner that was completely smashed in. It was clear that they were mishandled and thrown around with no care.
I contacted Droppa/Skynet as soon as I unpacked the items about a month ago. There has been endless emails and calls from my end and then I get told I need to provide them with an invoice showing the amount but they only cover up to R1000.
I explained that the items are worth well over that and R1000 does not even cover 1 item. Their response was that they do not cover more than R1000 end of story.
Having read their terms and conditions (https://www.droppa.co.za/droppa/terms_and_condition) - nowhere does it state that they only cover R1000 nor does it say that I need to provide an invoice
Infact, 12.2 says "Subject to the terms of this agreement and in respect of goods carried by the carrier, the carrier will only be liable in respect of loss or damage of such goods in transit by the carrier, to an amount of R5 000.00 (five thousand rand) subject to Act 68 of 2008 and subject to an internal investigation and subsequent approval by the management of the carrier or its appointed agent, whose decision will be final."
My questions:
Why am I running after you for breaking my stuff? Why am I being **** to when your own T&Cs on your site say R5k and not R1k Why are your staff so careless? Why must I bare the expense of your carelessness? What are you going to do?
Pictures were taken before delivery and after delivery - I have all of the above in writing should anyone decide to investigate.
