*********** mechanics at Driveshaft Centre, Montague Gardens (01 Dawn Road Branch - Foreman: Hein)

I made an appointment with Driveshaft Centre for the fitment of inner and outer CV joints for my 2005 KIA Rio. I requested the shop foreman to inspect the spares I have bought for correctness, prior to removing the old CVs but he was nonchalant and did not bother to inspect it. Here is where my problems started. The job was done in about 4-5hours as expected and as I drove off I noticed the amber ABS light and red brake light stayed lit. I took the car back within 15min showing the foreman the alarms. His first reply was "we never worked on the ABS, besides you supp**** us with the parts - it was your parts. It doesn't matter you can drive the car like that". So I phoned the supplier of the spares who reminded me that the old ABS rings needed to be reclaimed from the old outer CVs and any competent mechanic should have known this. I went back to Driveshaft Centre where the foreman changed his tune - telling me, bring the car in tomorrow morning and we will do it free of charge. I went home that evening and noticed an oil leak underneath the car seem to come from the left drive shaft. I was back at the Driveshaft Centre the next morning informing the foreman of the oil leak, once again - "it was your parts, you supp**** it" I rep****, "but I'm not the specialist and I asked that we do an inspection before you start." The Driveshaft Centre mechanics (working with sneakers on and cigarette in the mouth) pulled both drive shafts and found that indeed the parts were not the same: (1) The reclaimed ABS rings did not fit onto the new outer CVs, because the shaft diameters was different and (2) The oil leak was firstly attributed to a busted side shaft seal by the foreman, but was later found that the inner CV was also not the correct spec (once again a competent mechanic should have noticed this first hand). They destroyed the parts I have supp**** to the extent that my supplier refused to swap / refund me due to the excessive tool marks. The foreman requested me to buy new seals. At this point he didn't even realize that the inner CV diameters were not the same as the old ones. (However a competent mechanic would have made a comparison and easily noticed the shaft diameters were different). Only on day three at the Driveshaft Centre the foreman realized that the inner CVs were also not correct and that was the root cause of the oil leak. The foreman proposed that we refit the inner CV's because it was still in good condition and were the right fit for the side shaft seals (obviously!). I had to purchased the correct outer CV's with ABS rings from Masterparts (I had to walked there, because Driveshaft Centre did not offer me any support while my car was undriveable and on the lift even though they had a driver who collects spares with a motorcycle). The foreman made me a list on a sticky note of all the spares I needed to buy and bring back to the workshop. After arranging a lift and walking some distances I came back and handed him the 1. new side shaft seals from KIA Motors, 2. new outer CVs from Masterparts. After three days I got my car back and as I drove off I noticed a creaking sound coming from the car. I was hoping it was something superficial and took the car back within 30min. The foreman thought it was the brake vent plate that was a little bent and corrected it. I drove off, but the creaking sound was still present. At that point I made my decision that whatever is still wrong with the car, I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THE DRIVESHAFT CENTRE AGAIN! I have decided to write a review today, because I have just noticed a massive oil leak underneath my car. A workshop that does not comply with OH&S regulations (wearing of appropriate PPE) are likely mismanaged and have *********** staff - stay away from such workshops.
