Think twice before giving your money to this school.
I started with this driving school (Honey Bee, which works with DriveCo) on the 9th March 2018. I paid upfront for the 10 lesson package (which includes the 10 lessons + they take you for the booking of the test + the lend you the car on the day of the test) thinking that they will take me more seriously if I show commitment to the school and to my lessons. I have alot to say about this school. So before you give them your money... Atleast read and see what you could possibly be getting yourself into.
I had my first lesson with an instructor who couldn't ever fit me in to his schedule thereafter. An entire month passed and I finally got fed up and called Nageeb to politely ask for a new instructor. The new instructor wasn't bad. He tried, but, he was also just very bad at planning. I tried to just be patient with him but he was quite unprofessional. Then eventually after not hearing from the second instructor for a whole month he messages me and we set a date. He was in the hospital for 2 weeks and nobody told me. I already had the sense that I was complaining too much which is why I didn't want to contact admin or Nageeb about it. The lesson was booked for the 20th June. On the day of the lesson....the instructor tells me that I will be getting a different instructor. He said he doesn't want to do the lesson because they changed his car and the car they are giving was old. I had two lessons with the third instructor. The car WAS old and uncomfortable, but I was just so happy to be actually having a lesson so I didn't complain. The third instructor also had such a busy schedule. He was quite unprofessional. Too comfortable, and inappropriate. In August I finally book the test but had not been taught any parking after completing the 10 lessons. I complained to Nageeb. And he offered some complimentary lessons... I only learnt the 3 point turn on one of the lessons and the instructor kept trying to tell me that I need to pay or book an extra package. I felt ********** and had to keep reminding him that Nageeb said that these lessons were FREE.
I feel like this was one huge waste of money. If you're anything like me, and get irritated when people can't plan and communicate properly then this driving school is not for you. Also, switching instructors is a major waste of time because your first lesson with the next instructor will mainly be going over what the previous instructor taught you. This school generally lacks a proper system. They rely on diaries... If the instructor left his diary in the office and went home or left it in the car... You can forget you ever had a lesson because he will say he "forgot" and will come with so many excuses. THAT'S just how backward they are. Also, pick up and drop off time is included in the time allocated for the lesson. I've had some of my lessons cut by 15-20minutes because of this. What exactly am I paying for here? Some will say that it's standard...but when the driving instructors are inconsistent, unprofessional and late or cancel the last minute it's really takes away from the whole experience. My lessons were so spaced out. I started on the 9th of March and only booked my test in August because I kept needing to switch instructors. Now I'm out the country for a while with no license to my name and I'm obviously bitter about it because I gave them 6months to teach me how to be an adequate driver.
Not to mention, on the day of my test the third instructor was supposed to pick me up two hours before so that he could teach me alley docking and parallel parking (FOR THE FIRST TIME! TWO HOURS BEFORE MY TEST). When I called him on the day he said that another instructor is on the way and I will be using the new instructors car for my test. I was very upset. I already knew I was going to fail because ide never driven this new car before PLUS I still hadn't learnt alley docking and parallel parking. Also the new instructor told admin that I had said that he shouldn't come....keep in mind that this is ON the day of my test and time was running out. I finally called Nageeb and complained about the fact that I was receiving the worst service. Eventually the instructor came about 30minutes before my test. I'de never met this man before and the first thing he told me was "you know youre going to fail right?". Initially I was thinking "but why am I even going?????" But then he suggested just going to the test to see what it's like and to experience it. Basically just to waste my time. He taught me alley docking and parallel parking for 15 minutes before the test and I obviously failed in the yard within the first 10 minutes.
This school Honeybee/DriveCo has no sense of customer service or service delivery in general. You don't receive any sort of receipt of payment. There is no contract between you and the school. You basically just pay and hope for the best. They end up treating you however they like there after.
Don't waste your money. I've tried so many times to just cancel all the lessons and just get SOME money back but Nageeb kept offering free lessons which didn't help at all because up until the day of my test, the school STILL wasn't taking me seriously. This was a really bad experience and I still think back on it and feel totally **********. I know service in South Africa is not the best... But this was by far the worst experience I've had and I can't even say I'm a difficult person. Maybe other people have had good experiences with this school and I was just unlucky... But when we're all paying the same money its really not hard to have a systematic way of doing things so that everyone has more or less the same good experience. I was just asking them to respect my time and do their jobs and they couldn't even do that. It's not worth it. There has to be better driving schools out there.
