Du Toit Infrastructure (DTI) – Our Disappointing Experience
We contacted Du Toit Infrastructure (DTI) due to a problem with our inverter. The owner sent out one of the employees to inspect it. He informed us that the inverter was faulty and needed repairs, estimating a repair time of 4–6 weeks. He also mentioned the inverter was still under warranty.
After 4 weeks, we followed up for an update. We were then told the repair would take an additional 8 weeks, and unexpectedly, we would need to pay R6 000 because, according to employee, all the PC boards were broken and not fully covered by the warranty. This raised suspicions, as we were under the impression that the warranty covered all necessary repairs.
We asked the employee where the inverter had been sent. He first said it was at the Sunsynk Repair Centre in Randburg. We called the centre and gave them the serial number, but they had no record of it. When we confronted him, he changed the story and claimed it was at a different repair centre in Midrand, again we checked, and it was not there either.
At this point, it was clear that we were not getting honest information. We demanded the return of our inverter. Thankfully, it was returned via a driver. We then took it directly to Deye Inverter Repairs in Midrand. They assessed and fixed the inverter within two days, and did not charge us anything, confirming that the warranty did indeed cover the issue.
We strongly advise against using DTI. Based on our experience, we believe they were dishonest and tried to charge us unnecessarily. Be cautious when dealing with them.
