Critical Gaps in Care and Communication Put Patients at Risk

I would have recommended this practice a year ago. Today, I cannot. The standard of care has sharply declined, particularly in communication and respect for patients. If you have a history of pregnancy loss and need reassurance during a rainbow pregnancy, I strongly advise against coming here.

The practice now uses a new service provider for blood tests, yet results are not accessible online. Patients must chase the doctor’s rooms for their own results, which is unacceptable. I had bloods taken on Monday and received no communication until my appointment on Wednesday. Another set was taken on Wednesday, again with no follow-up. Despite contacting the lab directly and repeatedly reaching out to the receptionist, Nthabi, I received no timely assistance. Nthabi assured me multiple times that she would follow up, but each promise was broken. Only after persistent calls on Thursday afternoon did she admit the doctor had been informed. I was still never contacted by Dr. Kalonji. My husband had to call the rooms again on Friday for help.

To add to the frustration, I was sent blood results from December 2024 under a previous lab provider and instructed by Nthabi to contact the lab again, with a vague promise that she would call me back soon.

These blood tests were clinically important, not routine. The lack of follow-up reflects a dangerous gap in patient care. As a healthcare professional, I know the critical importance of communication, reliability, and exceeding patient expectations. This practice failed on all of these counts. Patients should not have to beg for their own medical results. The lack of accountability, follow-through, and basic patient care is deeply concerning and unprofessional.
